Let’s be real, we’ve all been wearing the same sweats for 3 weeks straight but now that we’re starting to leave the house for more than just the supermarket, our wardrobes need some sprucing up. So to help you, we’ve compiled a list of versatile pieces that won’t break the bank or the planet.

Let’s start with a wardrobe staple: a basic white tee. Hero staples brand Boody has a great one for $39, which is 100% organic bamboo. Bamboo is an extremely sustainable fabric, not only are they biodegradable, bamboo plants use less water and improve air quality 30% more than the equivalent amount of normal trees. On top of that, for each of their pieces Boody tells you exactly how much emissions, energy and water was saved.

Not sure about you, but my favourite item of clothing in my wardrobe is a good oversized shirt. This one from Assembly Label will definitely be the next addition to my shirt collection. Linen is super durable so this will last you a lifetime and when you are done, linen one of the most biodegradable fabrics in fashion

This Serendipity Sweater from Ceres Life is the perfect throw on. Ceres Life is a 1% for the planet member, which means they donate 1% of their profits to not-for-profits that work to protect the environment. They are also dedicated to using sustainable materials as much as possible.

We couldn’t not have a pair of jeans in this list. Jeans. A classic! For a vintage look, Everlane’s 90’s Cheeky Straight Jean are the perfect pair.  We also love these light blue washed Dusters by Rolla’s, they’re easy to slip on and attend those 9am lectures. Rolla’s use Australian cotton, which is water-use efficient, and also partners with sustainable denim mills. For a pair of black denim Boyish Jeans has a great pair made from recycled cotton.  Bonus, on Boyish’s website they tell you exactly how much water, waste and emissions were saved making these jeans.

If comfy but stylish pants is what you are after, Assembly Label has you covered with their 100% linen Ari Wide Leg Pant

Shop Veja’s colourful range for that staple sneaker that everyone needs in their wardrobe. Veja uses materials that avoid chemical and polluting processes making them stylish and sustainable shoes.

Accessory time! Add some sparkle to your outfit with some beautiful ethical jewelry from Soko, our favourite pieces include this necklace and ring. Now for the cherry on top, the cutest mini bag from Brie Leon.

Last but certainly not least, hit up your local Op-Shop. I’m sure I don’t need to tell you this but vintage shopping is great for the environment as it makes sure nothing goes to waste. Our tip for a successful vintage shop is go in with a list in mind of items you are looking for. That way you’ll know a gem when you find one.
